Hello,
I've been meaning to do this for a long time. I want to share with the public the information presented by John Newman at various JFK assassination researcher conferences. I first heard about him at the first big JFK assassination researcher conference I attended, and one that kind of kick started new interest in the case and a tradition now of annual JFK conferences at A.S. K. '91. A.S.K. '91 was the Assassination Symposium on John F. Kennedy held in Dallas.
There were stories of a guy, a Major in the U.S. Army, in Military Intelligence who was going to look at JFK's foreign policy in Vietnam at the Assassination Symposium on John F. Kennedy A.S.K. I heard was a friend of David Lifton. There was mention of a book coming out. This would be his first book, "JFK and Vietnam."
This conference was held around the time that the U.S. saw for the first time a British documentary "The Men Who Killed Kennedy." In Britain, I believe, this was a 2 hour show. Or a 2 part show each show being two hours. And for years it could not be shown in America, no American network would air it. Then a cable network, I believe it was the Arts and Entertainment channel, A & E, that made a deal and aired it. However, in American it was lengthened and was a 5 part series.
After the 1991 conference in November Oliver Stone's "JFK" hit the theatres in December. That led to legislation to open up the files the government had from the 4 previous federal investigations, the Warren Commission, the Rockefeller commission, the Church Committee, and the House Select Committee and would create a small body of archivists and historians who would oversee the process of declassification, the John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board, the ARRB.
I believe the very first time we saw and heard from John Newman was at the following year at A.S. K. '92 where John spoke on a panel.
